I’m finding it hard to move from writing whenever I feel like it (and letting the stories end where and when they may), and having a deadline. Don’t get me wrong, I think the deadline is a good thing, after all, it means I have a contract. Plus, I need to get more settled into a “writing life”.
It’s not that I don’t have the story in my head. I know where it’s going, and even how to get there. It’s that I start to stress when I sit down in front of the computer. So I’ve been practicing free-writing first. Just get down ideas, anything from the story to whatever else floats into my mind. Yet, always bring it back to the story.
Detective Lilah Evans is going to find the killer. She is going to solve what’s going on in Seattle. And she’s going to do it on time, and with amazing grace and word power.
Those of the things I know for sure. The rest? Is practice and commitment. And I can do that!
